Taylor-Alexis DuPont is an engaging Mezzo-Soprano from Orlando, Florida. Taylor began her musical studies with her first mentor and teacher Manny Lujan before studying with David Okerlund at Florida State University. While attending the Peabody Conservatory for her Masters in Voice, she performed in several opera’s including Così fan tutte as Dorabella, Cendrillion as Prince Charmant, Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snow Maiden as Lel, Mikhail Glinka’s Ruslan and Ludmilla as Prince Ratmir, and performed in the premiere production of Stinney: An American Execution. While at Peabody she was fortunate to have been selected to study with Denyce Graves in her voice studio.
Since graduating, she has performed with opera companies and young artist programs including the Metropolitan Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Teatro Regio di Torino, Ising International Young Artist Festival in Beijing and Suzhou, China, the Glimmerglass Festival, Sarasota Opera, the Prototype Festival, Pittsburgh Festival Opera, Heartbeat Opera, Florentine Opera, First Coast Opera, Christman Opera, Opera NexGen, Opera Orlando and St. Petersburg Opera’s Emerging Artist Program.
In 2022 Taylor-Alexis continues her residency as a Baumgartner Studio Artist at the Florentine Opera where she has performed as Luisa Fernanda in Luisa Fernanda, L'enfant (cover)/Squirrel/White Cat/Shepherdess/in L'enfant et les sortilége and Hansel in Hansel & Gretel this year. This Summer Taylor-Alexis will be featured in three new opera's at the Glimmerglass Festival as Reba in Taking up Serpents, as Archangel Gabriel in the world premiere of Holy Ground and as Phoebe in an expanded version of The Passion of Mary Cardwell Dawson. She will also cover the role of Gianna in the Rossini Pastiche premiering at the festival called Tenor Overboard.
In 2021 Taylor-Alexis made her return to the live stage since the start of the pandemic with Kurt Weil's Mahagonny-Songspiel as Bessie with Florentine Opera. That summer Taylor-Alexis sang the role of Moth in Santa Fe Opera's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream and was involved in their productions Eugene Onegin and the World Premiere of John Corigliano's The Lord of Cries. While an Apprentice Artist at Santa Fe she was featured as Béatrice in a scene from Béatrice & Bénedict and Mercedes in a scene from Carmen. She made her debut with Opera NexGen as Dorabella in their full digital but live performance of Così fan tutte and debuted as a soloist with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra in el amor brujo for their 100th season. Taylor-Alexis started her residency as a Baumgartner Studio Artist at Florentine Opera in 2020 which allowed her to perform an outreach version of La Bohème as Musetta in addition to seven digital concerts as a soloist that compromised the majority of Florentine Opera's 2020-2021 season.
Since the Covid-19 Pandemic, Taylor-Alexis has remained involved in performing in various mediums. In May of 2020, Taylor-Alexis was involved in Heartbeat Opera's widely acclaimed live digital performances of Lady M as one of the three Weird Sisters, as well as the six episode digital release of Opera Without Walls with Pittsburgh Festival Opera. She continued making music in 2020 with Barn Opera's production of Gianni Schicchi as La Ciesca and premiered Tony Small's piece This Christ while making her Kennedy Center debut as part of their Holiday Tings concert.
Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Taylor-Alexis was involved in the Grammy award winning production of Porgy and Bess as an ensemble member and soloist cover with the Metropolitan Opera. She also was involved in the premiere of Unfolded as Josette with Christman Opera and returned to St. Petersburg Opera to perform the lovable title character Pinocchio. Last February she made her debut with Aural Compass Projects as a soloist in their concert Lift Every Voice, where she sang a variety of song cycles and art songs written by African American composers like Florence Price, Undine Smith Moore and Margaret Bonds. Last March Taylor-Alexis sang Opera Through the Ages and would have also sung as Sally in the short opera A Hand of Bridge by Samuel Barber and performed in another concert called Creative Collaborations until they were postponed due to covid. In addition, Taylor-Alexis would have also made her debut with the Pittsburgh Opera Festival as Sappho in Mark Adamo's Opera Lysistrata.
