Biography
Taylor-Alexis DuPont is a Mezzo-Soprano from Orlando, Florida. She is honored to be in the voice studio of the world renowned Denyce Grave who she studied with extensively at while obtaining her Masters in Music at the Peabody Conservatory. Before attending college, Taylor-Alexis was discovered by and studied with Manny Lujan of the Vocalis Pro studio. She received her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance with Honors and Cum Laude from Florida State University and while studying with Assoc. Professor David Okerlund. She was the 2011 and 2012 Recipient of the CBC Performing Arts Scholarship as well as a Bank of America Joe Martin Scholar.
This season Taylor-Alexis was honored to be involved with the production of Stinney: An American Execution at New York's Prototype Festival for new opera. In addition Taylor-Alexis made her debut with First Coast Opera's Marian Anderson tribute concerts as a Soloist singing prominent Arias, spirituals and art songs that defined Ms. Anderson and inspired a generation. Taylor-Alexis has also just celebrated performing as a Principal artist in Saint Petersburg Opera's production of Suor Angelica as the Abbess.
This summer Taylor-Alexis looks forward to singing at Torino Opera in their production of the classic Porgy and Bess. Later this Fall Taylor-Alexis is ecstatic about performing on the Metropolitan Opera stage in their new Production of Porgy and Bess for the 2019-2020 season.
While attending the Peabody Conservatory for her Masters in Voice she performed in several Opera’s including Cosi fan tutte as Dorabella, Cendrillion as Prince Charmant , Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snow Maiden as Lel, Mikhail Glinka’s Ruslan and Ludmilla as Prince Ratmir and performed in the premiere production of Stinney: An American Execution. While at Peabody she was fortunate to have been selected to study with Denyce Graves in her voice studio and remains a student of hers. Since graduating she has performed in young artists programs and Opera Companies such as the Ising International Young Artist Festival in Beijing and Suzhou,China, the Glimmerglass Festival, Sarasota Opera’s Apprentice Artist Program , Opera Orlando and St. Petersburg Opera’s Emerging Artist Program. This past year she was the Rosalia (cover) in Sarasota Opera’s production of Tiefland and was the Flora (cover) for St. Petersburg’s La Traviata. Earlier this season Taylor-Alexis was involved in the second production of Stinney: An American execution at New York’s Prototype festival for new opera and was honored to be a soloist for First Coast Opera’s Marian Anderson tribute concert inging prominent Arias, spirituals and art songs that defined Ms. Anderson's career and inspired a generation. She looks forward to being an extra chorus member with the Metropolitan Opera from 2019-2020
